Back in the Saddle (almost)

A few months back my computer crashed, burned, and died an incredible death after a rough life of adventures in art in my care.  In the time since I was just doing a lot of pencil/colored pencil drawings, and just photographing them to put them online with my camera phone.  Hella'lame, but what are you gonna' do?

NOW though, I just got myself a nice shiny new MAC (os Catalina), and this thing is a BEAST.  I'm currently at war with Adobe to get my PSE2020 purchase go live, but when it does...

...I'm back in the saddle

Thumbless Drawing Project

So, I'm a School Bus Monitor, working with Special Needs kids.  The other day one of my kids was telling me about her field trip to the Connecticut Audubon Society.  She told me about the lizards, the birds (she LOVED the eagles), the mud, and it was a nice just listening to her passion about nature.  She went on for a bit and then she told me about the journal she had to keep, and that part of it was writing her name in the title WITHOUT using her thumb, and THAT snagged my attention. 

After I wrap up my next few commissions and some personal projects I'm going to draw an Eagle for the first time, and I'm going to do so without using my thumb while holding my pencil/pen.  I've already experimented with the most comfortable grip I can get.  Should be fun, should be a challenge

  1. What does your username mean? --My name is Harley, and I was born in 1979

  2. Describe yourself in three words. --Harley the Gnarly!!!

  3. Are you left or right handed? --Left handed in everything except the drums (because I didn't know such thing as a left handed drummer existed when I was learning how to play *shrug*

  4. What was your first deviation? --It was a Gargoyle pic that I was no longer happy with so I 86'd it

  5. What is your favourite type of art to create? --People, Gargoyles, stuff like that

  6. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? --I'd like to mess with 3D, but I don't know.  It looks like a lot of learning, and the 3D community is kinda' rough on the criticism level

  7. What was your first favourite? Pfffft, I don't remember, and I don't have the patience to look that far back

  8. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? --Pin up, who am I kidding?

  9. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? --J. Scott Campbell counts because he has a D.A. page, right?

  10. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? --J. Scott Campbell

  11. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? My buddy DarthBaw gave me some great advice about gearing back on the amount of line detail I put in my pieces.  It helped a ton

  12. What are your preferred tools to create art? --0.5 mm pencil, 0.38 pen, and Photoshop 

  13. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? --At my desk, I am the king of my own little world

  14. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory? --I posted a picture of one of my girls, and this guy messaged me saying how in love with the character he was, and that I drew it in such a way that he could imagine how she smelled.  I didn't know if I should be flattered or take a restraining order, lol
